BETHLEHEM, July 15, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces detained a Palestinian citizen and stole gold jewelry on Tuesday during a raid on the city of Bethlehem, coinciding with a campaign of raids that included several refugee camps and towns in the governorate.
Security sources told a WAFA correspondent that the occupation forces detained Mufleh Zawahra after raiding and searching his home in the Wadi al-Jamal area in central Bethlehem.
The sources indicated that during the search, the soldiers stole gold jewelry valued at 10,000 shekels (approximately $10,000).
The occupation forces also raided the Dar Hamid area in the city and inspected and scanned surveillance cameras installed on the facades of homes and shops.
The raids extended to include the al-Azza, al-Dheisheh, and Aida refugee camps, in addition to the cities of Beit Sahour and Beit Jala, and the towns of al-Khader, Artas, and Jannat, among others. No additional home raids or arrests were recorded in these locations at the time of writing.
The occupation forces also set up a military checkpoint at the western entrance to the western countryside of Bethlehem Governorate.
Local sources told our correspondent that the occupation forces set up a military checkpoint under the "bridge" in the Aqabat Hasna area, the main western entrance to the towns of Battir and Nahhalin, and the villages of Husan and Wadi Fukin.
They stopped and searched vehicles and checked citizens' IDs, causing traffic congestion in the area.
The Bethlehem Governorate is witnessing a significant escalation in the frequency of nighttime raids, thefts, and violations against civilians and their property, as part of the occupation's ongoing policy of intimidating residents and imposing security control.
