UN says Israeli forces issue new 'forced displacement' orders for areas in Gaza's Khan Younis

NEW YORK, July 3, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations said that the Israeli occupation forces have issued a new "forced displacement" order for neighborhoods inhabited by 80,000 people in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, noting that approximately 85% of Gaza's territory is currently subject to displacement orders.

UN Spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said during a press conference tonight that Israel has issued a new "forced displacement" order in Khan Yunis, Gaza, where 80,000 people live.

He added: "Approximately 85% of Gaza's territory is currently under displacement orders or located within military zones, seriously hindering people's access to essential humanitarian support and the ability of aid workers to reach those in need."

Dujarric stated that approximately 714,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced once or more than once in Gaza since the collapse of the ceasefire last March.

He pointed out that despite the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of newly displaced people, no shelter aid has been allowed into Gaza for four months.

He explained that surveys conducted by UN partners indicated that 97% of the displaced are sleeping in open areas.

The warnings to evacuate Palestinian citizens from areas in Gaza coincide with renewed calls by Israeli officials for displacement, most recently from Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen, who called for a vigorous push toward implementing the plan to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
