LONDON, 30-6-2025 (Wafa) — The President of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Younis Al Khatib, met with the UK’s Prince William during an official visit to Kensington Palace in London to discuss the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and ways to strengthen international humanitarian efforts.
The meeting was part of ongoing coordination efforts to highlight the worsening crisis in Gaza. Prince William hosted representatives from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the British Red Cross to highlight the challenges faced by humanitarian workers and to review ongoing efforts to assist those affected by the ongoing Israeli aggression.
Both sides discussed the deteriorating conditions on the ground in Gaza and the escalating urgent humanitarian needs. They emphasized the importance of ensuring safe and sustained access to humanitarian aid in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law, ensuring protection for civilians and medical personnel.
During the meeting, Al-Khatib stressed that over 1,600 PRCS staff and volunteers continue to work under extremely dangerous conditions to provide emergency medical services and distribute relief supplies despite the serious risks they face. He noted that 28 Red Crescent personnel have been killed while performing their humanitarian duties, highlighting the daily challenges faced by field teams.
Both parties underscored the need to enhance international support for humanitarian organizations, provide protection for medical teams to ensure they are not targeted, and facilitate relief operations to deliver aid to all affected areas in Gaza and the West Bank.
This meeting comes amid intense diplomatic and humanitarian efforts by international institutions to alleviate the humanitarian disaster in the occupied Palestinian territories, reaffirming the importance of international solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of mounting challenges.
