Israeli forces intensify restrictions in Jerusalem’s Old City

JERUSALEM, June 22, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces intensified their restrictions and closures in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem on Sunday.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli forces shut down all roads leading to the Al-Buraq Square (also known to Jews as the Western Wall Plaza), including access points from Lion’s Gate (Bab al-Asbat), the Moroccan Gate (Bab al-Maghariba), Al-Anab Gate (Jurat el-Anab), and Jaffa Gate (Bab al-Khalil).

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre and all other Christian churches and religious sites were also closed under the pretext of orders issued by what is referred to as the Home Front Command.

The governorate added that the Old City was placed under heightened alert, with a heavy deployment of Israeli forces and special units, as part of military measures to secure a visit by the Israeli Prime Minister to the Al-Buraq Wall, accompanied by a media crew from the right-wing Channel 14.
