Israeli authorities force Palestinian father and son to demolish their homes in East Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, June 19, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities on Thursday forced a Palestinian man and his son to demolish their own homes in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, Rami Aloun and his son Mohammad were compelled to evacuate and carry out the demolition of their two homes to avoid exorbitant fines, after being accused of building without Israeli-issued construction permits.

The incident is part of Israel’s ongoing policy of forced self-demolition, a policy widely condemned by human rights organizations as a form of coercive displacement. Obtaining building permits remains nearly impossible for Palestinians in East Jerusalem due to discriminatory Israeli planning policies.
