RAMALLAH, June 13, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Friday imposed sweeping closures across several West Bank cities, shutting down roads, erecting barriers, and restricting the movement of Palestinians.
In Jericho, forces closed off all entrances to the city as well as the Karama/Allenby/King Hussein Bridge crossing with Jordan in both directions. Local sources told WAFA that the roads were shut using iron gates and military checkpoints.
In Bethlehem, forces closed all access points to the governorate, including secondary roads, using iron gates and dirt mounds, according to security sources.
In Qalqilya, Israeli forces intensified their military measures, shutting the city’s eastern entrance and blocking roads leading to villages east of the city. A military checkpoint was also set up at the southern entrance, where citizens were denied access.
In Tulkarm, the eastern and southern entrances to the city were closed, with soldiers deployed at the checkpoints to prevent vehicles and pedestrians from approaching. The closure effectively cut off the city from surrounding towns and governorates.
In Nablus, Israeli forces shut down all gates at the military checkpoints encircling the city, blocking Palestinian vehicles from reaching the area. The closure isolated Nablus from nearby villages and other West Bank cities. Local sources reported that soldiers also fired live bullets toward civilians and journalists at the Deir Sharaf checkpoint, west of the city. No injuries were reported.
In the northern Jordan Valley, Israeli occupation forces tightened military restrictions at the Hamra and Tayasir checkpoints.
Local sources told WAFA that the occupation forces closed the Hamra checkpoint to traffic heading toward the Jordan Valley, while allowing vehicles to pass in the opposite direction.
They also closed the Tayasir checkpoint, east of Tubas, in both directions, blocking civilian movement.
The wide-scale movement restrictions come as Israel imposed a full closure on the West Bank following a large-scale military attack on Iran.
