GAZA, June 9, 2025 (WAFA) – A young girl has died from starvation and dehydration in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, medical sources confirmed Monday evening, as the humanitarian crisis in the besieged Palestinian territory continues to deepen.
According to medical staff at the Children and Maternity Hospital in Khan Younis, the child succumbed to severe malnutrition — a direct result of the widespread famine caused by the ongoing Israeli blockade.
The medical sources warned that thousands of children across Gaza are currently suffering from malnutrition and dehydration due to a lack of access to basic necessities. For nearly 100 days, the Israeli occupation authorities have imposed a total closure on Gaza’s crossings, preventing the entry of food, clean water, medical supplies, and fuel.
In a previous statement, Bassam Zaqqout, Director of Medical Relief in southern Gaza, described the situation as catastrophic, declaring: “Gaza has become a place of death. The famine rate has reached 100%.”
Since the start of the ongoing Israeli genocide, Israel has been using food as a weapon of war as part of a systematic campaign of genocide, siege, and destruction.
