Palestinian Government warns of escalating genocidal campaign in Gaza and West Bank in latest situation report

RAMALLAH, April 21, 2025 (WAFA) — The Government Communication Center at the Prime Minister’s Office has issued its weekly Situation Report, detailing the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, as the war on Gaza enters a new and deadly phase.

According to the report, Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has entered a new deadly phase. Since 18 March 2025, Israeli forces have killed 1,827 Palestinians and wounded 4,828. Over 420,000 people have been displaced anew. The health system has collapsed, bakeries are closed, and two million Palestinians now depend entirely on humanitarian aid, which is not being allowed in.

Israeli airstrikes have targeted displaced families sheltering in makeshift tents in Al-Mawasi and Beit Lahia. These attacks killed 25 people, most of them women and children. Three entire Palestinian families—Abu Roos, Al-Atal, and Asalieh—were wiped from the civil registry.

Journalist Fatima Hassona, 25 years old, was killed along with 10 members of her family in an Israeli airstrike. One of her final posts read: “If I die, I want a loud death.” A documentary featuring her life in Gaza was scheduled to debut at the Cannes ACID festival just 24 hours before her death.

In the occupied West Bank, Jenin has been under military attack for 91 days, and Tulkarem for 85 days. Homes have been burned, infrastructure has been destroyed, and 51 Palestinians have been killed across the two governorates. More than 45,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced by the Israeli occupation in these areas.

The report also highlights systematic violence against Palestinian prisoners. Marking Prisoner Day, detainees' groups confirmed that 63 prisoners have been killed in Israeli detention since 7 October, including 40 from Gaza. Over 9,900 Palestinians remain imprisoned, including 5,000 who are ill or injured. This week alone, two more detainees died while in Israeli custody.

Violations against holy sites in Jerusalem have escalated. A record 2,258 Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in a single day. On Holy Saturday, the Vatican Ambassador was barred from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The Old City of Jerusalem was placed under military lockdown, preventing Christian worshippers from reaching their holy sites.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned these actions, describing them as racist and discriminatory. The ministry stated that these violations are part of a broader assault on Jerusalem and called for urgent international action to stop settler provocations at Al-Aqsa.

Since the beginning of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, at least 51,201 Palestinians have been killed, the majority of whom are women and children. Another 116,869 have been injured. Many remain trapped under the rubble. Between 18 March and 16 April alone, nearly 420,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced, according to UNRWA.

In the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, Israeli forces have killed 954 Palestinians since 7 October 2023. Among the victims were 193 children. At least 8,072 Palestinians have been injured during this period.

The report also noted that Hebrew websites have promoted a video clip titled “Next Year in Jerusalem,” created using artificial intelligence. The video depicts the bombing of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the construction of the alleged "Temple" in its place.
