WFP urges urgent aid for gaza amid critical food shortages

NEW YORK, March 29, 2025 (WAFA) – The World Food Programme (WFP) has stressed the urgent need for humanitarian aid to reach the Gaza Strip as food supplies in the war-torn enclave continue to dwindle.

In a post on its official X platform, the organization emphasized that the situation has become increasingly dire with Israel maintaining its blockade of the region, exacerbating the ongoing hunger crisis.

WFP expressed concern over the rapidly depleting food stocks in Gaza, which are putting hundreds of thousands of Palestinians at risk of severe hunger and malnutrition. It warned that the continuous closure of border crossings by Israeli authorities is a key factor in preventing the delivery of critical food aid.

The organization stressed the necessity for immediate and unrestricted access to humanitarian assistance in Gaza. This follows an earlier warning issued on Thursday, where the organization raised alarms about the growing risk of acute hunger and malnutrition among Gaza's population.
