UN Security Council to hold closed session on Gaza's humanitarian situation

NEW YORK, March 28, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Security Council is set to hold a closed-door session today, Friday, to discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza. During the session, Edem Wosornu, the Director of Operations and Advocacy at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), will provide a briefing to the Council members.

The session was called at the request of France and the United Kingdom, with the support of Algeria, to address the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza and the protection of relief workers in the region. 

The Council presidency has announced that an official statement will be adopted at the end of the session, in accordance with Article 55 of the Council's provisional rules of procedure.
