WINDHOEK, March 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Presidential Advisor for International Affairs Riyadh Malki Friday attended the inauguration of Namibia's President-elect, Ndemupelila Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, in Windhoek.

At a ceremony that coincided with Namibia's 35th anniversary of independence, Presidential Advisor Malki attended the inauguration of Nandi-Ndaitwah, who was sworn in as the first female president of Namibia after winning elections last year.

As Namibia's fifth president since its independence in 1990, Nandi-Ndaitwah, 72, won the 2024 presidential election with 57 percent of the vote.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by heads of state from several African countries, as well as leaders of international and regional organizations.

Presidential Advisor Malki met with President-elect Nandi-Ndaitwah, conveying to her President Mahmoud Abbas’ greetings and briefing her on the latest developments in the occupied territories, with focus on the ongoing Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip and ethnic cleansing campaign in the occupied West Bank.

President-elect Nandi-Ndaitwah affirmed her country’s principled position in support of the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights, including their inalienable right to self-determination and freedom and the right to establish an independent state based on the 4 June 1967 border with its capital in East Jerusalem, in line with international law and UN resolutions.

The meeting was attended by Palestine’s ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and non-resident ambassador to Namibia, Hanan Jarrar.
