France, Germany, Italy and UK express support for Arab plan for Gaza reconstruction

LONDON, March 8, 2025 (WAFA) – The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, and the UK expressed their support on Saturday for an Arab-backed plan aimed at the reconstruction of Gaza, which is projected to cost $53 billion and aims to avoid displacing Palestinians from the enclave.

In a joint statement, the ministers emphasized that the plan offers a realistic path to Gaza's reconstruction, promising, if implemented, rapid and sustainable improvements to the dire living conditions of Palestinians in Gaza.

The plan, drafted by Egypt and adopted by Arab leaders on Tuesday, has been rejected by Israel and U.S. President Donald Trump, who presented a widely rejected vision to displace the Palestinian people from their land.

The Egyptian proposal includes the creation of an administrative committee made up of independent, professional Palestinian technocrats. This committee would oversee humanitarian aid and manage Gaza's affairs under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority.
