CAIRO, February 12, 2025 (WAFA) - Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah II Wednesday reiterated their steadfast position on the immediate commencement of Gaza reconstruction and rejection of Palestinians' displacement.
President El-Sisi and King Abdullah II reiterated their position in a phone call, according to the Egyptian State Information Service website.
The two leaders reaffirmed the unified positions of Egypt and Jordan, including the crucial necessity to fully implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, continue the release of detainees, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid in order to alleviate the severe humanitarian suffering in the sector.
They also reiterated the imperative to immediately start the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without displacing the Palestinian people from their land. Furthermore, they stressed the necessity to stop the practices carried out by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinians in the West Bank.
They expressed their commitment to close cooperation with U.S. President Donald Trump in the pursuit of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East, while acknowledging President Trump’s leadership in working towards the long-awaited goal of establishing a Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions. They also affirmed the importance of ensuring peaceful coexistence among all peoples in the region.
The two leaders reviewed ways to strengthen coordination and consultations among Arab states, as well as preparations for the emergency Arab summit, scheduled to take place in Egypt on February 27, aimed to fulfill the aspirations of the peoples of the region for peace, stability, and prosperity.
