BEIJING, February 7, 2025 (WAFA) – China’s Vice Foreign Minister, Chen Xiaodong, met on Friday with the Council of Arab Ambassadors to discuss developments in the Palestinian cause and strengthen joint coordination on political positions.
The meeting was convened at the request of the Palestinian Embassy, through the Arab League Mission in Beijing, in line with the directives of President Mahmoud Abbas to reaffirm Palestine's firm rejection of the policy of uprooting and displacing the Palestinian people from their land.
During the meeting held at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, the Chinese official stated that Gaza is an integral part of Palestinian territory, and any future arrangements regarding Gaza must respect the will of the Palestinian people.
He emphasized that any plan for Gaza’s administration must adhere to the principle of Palestinian governance, pointing out that China supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and backs the Palestinian Authority in taking responsibility for managing all Palestinian territories, including Gaza and the West Bank.
He reaffirmed China's support for the two-state solution as the primary path to peace and its efforts to promote a just political resolution, leading to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For their part, the Arab ambassadors affirmed their rejection of the displacement of the population of Gaza, considering it a serious violation of international law, humanitarian law and UN resolutions.
They also emphasized that the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people cannot be taken away, and that justice and fairness in the international community must be upheld in the Palestinian cause.
Meanwhile, Chargé d'Affaires of the of the State of Palestine in China, Shadi Abu Zarqa, called on the Republic of China, as the current President of the United Nations Security Council, to take urgent action to uphold international legitimacy decisions and ensure the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Chargé d'Affaires of the State of Palestine expressed the appreciation of the State of Palestine for China’s consistent position in support of the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights, as well as its firm stance against attempts to displace the residents of Gaza. He emphasized that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian state and should not be used as a political bargaining chip.
