RAMALLAH, January 26, 2025 (WAFA) - The Fatah Central Committee unequivocally reaffirmed its rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land, which the international community has consistently recognized as their rightful territory for establishing a state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Central Committee emphasized the importance of continued efforts by U.S. President to solidify and sustain the ceasefire, provide humanitarian assistance, ensure the full withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and enable the Palestinian Authority to fully assume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip.
The committee underscored that achieving a lasting and just peace can only be realized by implementing the two-state solution, ending the occupation and establishing the Palestinian state, which would ultimately contribute to peace for all neighboring countries and the world.
The committee also expressed concerns regarding recent decisions to lift sanctions on Israeli colonists and approve new shipments of U.S. munitions to Israel. It warned that such measures would only exacerbate the conflict rather than resolving it, redirecting resources and efforts away from the pursuit of peace.
Furthermore, the Fatah Central Committee reaffirmed that any international position must strengthen global efforts to resolve the conflict.
It emphasized that Palestine belongs to the Palestinians, who will not abandon their land despite the difficult circumstances. The committee pointed out that Palestinians in Gaza are eager and determined to return to their homes, despite their full knowledge of the catastrophe that awaits them, driven by their determination to bury their children and relatives who are still trapped under the rubble, rebuild their homes, restore their normal lives and fulfill their aspirations.
The committee commended the steadfast stance of Egypt and Jordan, both of which have firmly rejected any form of displacement and aligned with the Palestinian leadership and the international community in advocating for a resolution to the conflict based on international law, human rights and UN resolutions, rather than the whims of Israel’s far-right government.
Additionally, the committee called on the Trump administration to continue striving for peace and stability, urging it to avoid actions that would lead the region into further crises due to the current Israeli government's desires and its repressive measures in Gaza, the West Bank, including Jerusalem. This includes the siege imposed on Palestinians in the West Bank, confining them to geographical cantons and creating a de facto situation through the expansion of colonies and the targeting of civilians in their camps, villages and cities.
