BETHLEHEM, January 22, 2025 (WAFA) - In an ongoing escalation, Israeli occupation forces intensified on Wednesday their punitive measures across the West Bank, with reports of further arbitrary detentions and heightened restrictions on Palestinians.
In the town of Tuqou southeast of Bethlehem, Israeli forces briefly detained nearly 30 Palestinian workers who were constructing a road in the Khirbet ed-Deir area, which links the town of Tuqou with Jannatah town. No reason was provided for their detention.
According to local sources, the workers were subjected to harsh field interrogations and forced to sit on the ground.
Israeli occupation forces continue to carry out field interrogations in multiple West Bank areas, coupled with widespread abuse, assaults, threats and acts of vandalism and destruction targeting civilians and their homes. Systematic detention campaigns, a central aspect of the occupation's policy, have intensified to unprecedented levels since October 2023, marked by a significant rise in both the number of detainees and the severity of crimes committed by the occupation forces.
