RAMALLAH, August 25, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists prevented firefighters crews from reaching a blaze that broke out in the Wadi Ammar area, east of Turmusaya, northeast of Ramallah, on Tuesday, according to local sources.

They added that colonists were present in the area when the fire broke out and obstructed the arrival of fire trucks, preventing firefighters from starting efforts to contain the blaze in time.

The fire broke out in agricultural land in the Wadi Ammar area, amid fears that it would spread and intensify, especially given the nature of the agricultural land and the presence of trees and dry vegetation.

The eastern areas of Turmus Ayya have recently witnessed an escalation in colonist attacks on Palestinian land and property, including the burning of agricultural land, uprooting of trees, assaults on residents, and preventing them from accessing their land.

Similar attacks have previously been recorded in the Turmus Ayya plain and Wadi Ammar, including setting fire to Palestinian land and preventing residents from reaching fire sites to extinguish them, at a time when the town's lands are facing increasing pressure related to settlement expansion.

The Wadi Ammar area lies within the agricultural lands east of Turmus Ayya. This area has witnessed increased settlement activity and actions in recent months aimed at imposing a new reality on Palestinian land.

This incident comes amidst escalating colonist attacks in the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, including the burning of land and property, assaults on Palestinians, and obstruction of their access to their land and livelihoods.
