LOS ANGELES, January 16, 2025 (WAFA) – Los Angeles city continues to battle massive wildfires fueled by strong, dry winds, causing panic among residents for eight consecutive days.

As the danger grows, US authorities have issued warnings to residents to prepare for immediate evacuation, as firefighters race against time to control the flames that have consumed thousands of homes and forced thousands to flee.

Officials urged residents to remain alert and prepare to evacuate, with the winds expected to continue until Thursday afternoon.

About 6.5 million people are still under threat from the fires, which have consumed an area roughly the size of Washington, DC, and have killed at least 25 people, according to official data. The fires have also caused extensive damage to more than 12,000 homes and other facilities, and forced about 200,000 people to flee.
