Activists in Illinois and New York call for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

ILLINOIS, December 29, 2024 (WAFA) – Hundreds of activists and members of community organizations in the U.S. state of Illinois gathered in a demonstration to honor the more than 45,000 Palestinians who have been killed since October 7, 2023, in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

The rally, held in Chicago, highlighted the ongoing genocide that the Palestinian people are facing in Gaza. Organizers emphasized the urgency of ending the bloodshed and called for an immediate halt to the war.

They specifically urged U.S. leaders to intervene and protect the remaining civilians, particularly those trapped in northern Gaza, which has been under siege by Israeli occupation forces for nearly two months.

In addition to the Chicago demonstration, activists in New York gathered at the iconic Times Square to demand a ceasefire and an end to the war in Gaza.

The events reflect growing international calls for an immediate resolution to the war and the protection of Palestinian lives.
