Palestine becomes second Arab country to ratify Transit Transport Agreement at Arab League

CAIRO, December 17, 2024 (WAFA) - The State of Palestine signed the Agreement on Regulating Transit Transport among Arab League Member States at the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo, becoming the second Arab country to ratify the agreement.

Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, Palestine's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, signed the ratification document on behalf of Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa.

Ambassador Al-Aklouk emphasized the importance of this step in enhancing Arab economic integration and facilitating the movement of goods and services among Arab countries.

He stressed the need to activate Arab agreements that contribute to strengthening Arab national security, which is facing unprecedented threats due to the Israeli aggression against five Arab nations.

According to Al-Aklouk, this agreement aims to achieve common objectives of enhancing Arab and regional cooperation, improving intra-Arab trade efficiency, and reducing logistical costs. This will contribute to strengthening and developing economic ties between Arab countries, achieving economic integration and fostering sustainable development.

Through this cooperation, we aim to eliminate barriers to trade exchange, develop transport infrastructure and encourage investment and collaboration in the logistics sectors, which are a vital lifeline for the economy, he stressed.
