CAIRO, December 6, 2024 (WAFA) - The Arab League announced that the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers, originally scheduled for this Sunday, has been postponed.
The meeting, set to take place at the Arab League's headquarters, was meant to discuss the ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as Israeli threats to Iraq and the current situation in Syria.
The meeting, requested by Syria and Palestine to address these critical issues, will now be rescheduled to a later date.
Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League, later announced that the Arab League Council will convene at the level of Permanent Representatives next Sunday at the General Secretariat headquarters in a preparatory meeting. This session will lay the groundwork for the ministerial meeting, which is expected to take place as soon as possible, likely by the end of next week.
He clarified that the postponement of the Arab League's ministerial meeting was not due to any substantive issues, but rather for logistical reasons. The main objectives were to ensure thorough preparation for the meeting and to guarantee the participation of as many Arab foreign ministers as possible.
