RAMALLAH, November 17, 2024 (WAFA) - The General Supervisor of the Official Media, Ahmad Assaf, briefed Dominique Pradalie, president of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), on the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinian journalists, particularly those working in official media.
This came during a meeting that took place on Sunday at the headquarters of the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) in Ramallah, in the presence of Anthony Bellanger, General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), and Nasser Abu Bakr, head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS).
Minister Assaf stressed the importance of concentrating efforts on collaborating with international organizations to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and assaults on Palestinian journalists. He pointed out that these attacks on journalists are aimed at concealing and falsifying the truth, as well as blocking the global dissemination of the Palestinian narrative.
He also commended the courage of Palestinian journalists in documenting the truth and exposing the occupation’s crimes across various media platforms, which rendered Israel unable to control its image in the international media.
For her part, Pradalie reaffirmed continuous efforts to offer full support and solidarity with Palestinian journalists, including providing essential legal and financial aid.
She highlighted their collaboration with international institutions, especially the International Criminal Court, to gather evidence of Israel's violations against Palestinian journalists and hold perpetrators accountable.
Additionally, she commended the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate for its partnership with the International Federation of Journalists in ensuring the protection and support of Palestinian journalists.
For his part, the General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) affirmed that Israel has lost its global media battle, having committed crimes by killing and targeting Palestinian journalists while they were carrying out their journalistic duties, especially in the Gaza Strip.
