NEW YORK, October 19, 2024 (WAFA) – Joyce Msuya, the UN Assistant Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Acting Emergency Relief Coordinator, stated today that the news coming from northern Gaza is horrifying, with Palestinians continuing to suffer unimaginable horrors under the siege imposed by Israeli forces.

In a statement issued this evening, Msuya noted that people in Jabalia are trapped under the rubble, with emergency responders unable to reach them, and tens of thousands of Palestinians are facing forced displacement amid dwindling supplies.

She emphasized that overcrowded hospitals are being targeted, calling for an immediate end to these atrocities in accordance with international humanitarian law. Msuya stressed the need to protect civilians, the wounded, the sick, healthcare workers, and healthcare facilities.

She underscored the necessity of respecting international humanitarian law, urging Israel to comply with the interim orders issued by the International Court of Justice.

To be noted, for the fifteenth consecutive day, Israeli occupation forces are continuing aerial, ground, and naval bombardments of northern Gaza, blocking supplies of food, water, medicine, and fuel, while destroying homes and entire residential blocks.
