PARIS, October 5, 2024 (WAFA) – French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an end to arms supplies to Israel amid its ongoing onslaught on the Gaza Strip.
In an interview with France Inter on Saturday, Macron emphasized that France has not provided weapons to Israel during the current war. "The priority today is to return to a political solution and to stop delivering arms to Israel for its operations in Gaza," Macron stated.
He urged for an immediate cessation of arms shipments used in the war as part of a broader effort to achieve a political resolution.
Macron highlighted the need to avoid further escalation, expressing concern for the Lebanese population, stating, "We must not sacrifice the Lebanese people; Lebanon cannot become another Gaza."
Of note, a report from the French Ministry of Defense has revealed that arms exports from France to Israel amounted to 30 million euros (approximately $33 million) last year.
