DOHA, October 3, 2024 (WAFA) – The Doha Declaration, issued at the Third Asian Cooperation Dialogue Summit focused on "Sports Diplomacy," has emphasized the urgent need for an immediate and complete ceasefire in Gaza, as well as unrestricted access for humanitarian aid to the region.
The summit was inaugurated by heads of state and government from member countries of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue, including President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine.
Leaders expressed deep concern regarding the escalating situation in Gaza, calling for a comprehensive ceasefire and the immediate, unconditional release of all detainees from both sides based on mutual agreements.
They reaffirmed their strong support for Palestine's full membership in the United Nations and stressed the importance of achieving a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue.
The declaration highlighted the significance of cooperation and dialogue in fostering peace and stability among Asian Cooperation Dialogue member states, aiming for inclusive growth and sustainable development, as reflected in the 2030 Vision for Asian Cooperation.
Additionally, the leaders underscored the importance of youth sports by promoting international youth sporting events across various disciplines. They also emphasized the establishment of cultural exchange programs that connect sports activities with educational components to enhance understanding and friendship among cultures.
