UK voices concern over killing of US-Turkish activist in occupied West Bank

LONDON, Saturday, September 07, 2024 (WAFA) – The United Kingdom (UK) today voiced concern over the killing of US-Turkish activist, Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who was fatally shot in the head by Israeli forces during a protest in the occupied West Bank.

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office expressed profound concern over Eygi’s killing, while noting that her killing came against the backdrop of the escalation which is increasing day after another in the West Bank.

He emphasized the importance of civilian protection and reiterated its call for Israel to adhere to international law, as reported by Anadolu Agency (AA).

“It is imperative that civilians are protected,” the spokesperson told Anadolu. “We continue to urge Israel to comply with international law.”

Eygi, a 26-year-old US activist of Turkish origin, was directly shot in the head during a peaceful demonstration in the village of Beita.
