CHICAGO, Friday, August 23, 2024 (WAFA) - At the close of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, activists have called for concrete actions to end the Israeli war on Gaza immediately and support Palestinian rights to freedom and statehood.
The activists, representing human rights, civil society organizations, and labor and student unions, have continued their protests and sit-ins in front of the convention venue in Chicago, Illinois, for the fifth consecutive day. They are demanding an end to the ongoing war in Gaza and the genocide that has persisted for over ten months.
In a related development, a group of "uncommitted" Democratic Party members staged a 26-hour sit-in outside the United Center, the conference venue.
They protested being barred from addressing the delegates to advocate for a non-committed vote in the upcoming elections, in opposition to U.S. support for Israel's genocide in Gaza.
