Presidency spokesperson responds to Israel's Knesset's rejection of Palestinian state

RAMALLAH, Thursday, July 18, 2024 (WAFA) – In response to the Israeli Knesset’s approval of a draft resolution rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state, the official presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that there is no peace or security for anyone without the establishment of a Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy, and that terrorism is Israel that launches a continuous aggression to kill children, women, and the elderly.

Abu Rudeineh added that the Palestinian states exist with the recognition of the entire world, and that there are 149 member states in the United Nations that recognize the State of Palestine, adding that international recognitions are still coming to confirm that embodying the establishment of the Palestinian independent state does not require permission or legitimacy from anyone.

He pointed out that these decisions confirm the insistence of Israel and its ruling coalition to push the entire region into the abyss, holding the US responsible, due to its bias and unlimited support.

The presidency spokesperson added that the Israeli government is not concerned with peace, which will not be achieved without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders.

Abu Rudeineh  pointed out that the UN Security Council resolutions, General Assembly resolutions, and international consensus brought the State of Palestine to an observer member in the United Nations, and raised the flag of the State of Palestine alongside the countries of the world that recognized it, calling on the countries of the world that did not recognize the State of Palestine to recognize it immediately and support it obtaining full membership in the United Nations to protect the two-state solution and protect the rights of Palestinian people, especially their right to self-determination.
