UNRWA Commissioner-General calls for independent investigation into Israel's attacks on UN premises in Gaza

NEW YORK, Sunday, July 7, 2024 (WAFA) - UNRWA Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, called for independent investigations into the Israeli occupation's attacks on UN premises in the Gaza Strip.

“The school, in the Middle Areas, was home to nearly 2,000 internally displaced, and dozens of casualties were reported,” he said in a post on X.

“Since the war began, more than half (or 190) of UNRWA facilities have been hit, some multiple times, some directly,” said the UNRWA Commissioner-General.

“As a result, 520 people were killed and nearly 1,600 were injured while seeking some safety. Too many were women and children,” he added.

“Those responsible must be held accountable for violating international law.”

The UNRWA Commissioner-General called for a ceasefire, adding that the longer this war goes on, the deeper the rift will become, and the more suffering people will endure. "Enough is enough.”
