Thousands protest in New York City against U.S. presidential candidates' unfettered support for Israel

NEW YORK, Sunday, June 30, 2024 (WAFA) – In a significant display of dissent, thousands of activists and members of humanitarian and community organizations gathered in New York City to protest statements made by U.S. presidential candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump regarding their unwavering support and promises to continue backing Israel.

The demonstrators voiced strong opposition to the candidates' remarks on the Palestinian issue, which they argue must be a priority for the next president to achieve stability and peace in the region.

Protesters marched through several areas in Manhattan, demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza and calling for the cessation of financial and military aid and weapon shipments to Israel, which facilitate further crimes against the Palestinian people.

Additionally, activists rallied outside a fundraiser for President Joe Biden's reelection campaign, where he was present, denouncing his continued support for the genocide.

In a social media post, activists stated that "politicians responsible for genocide are not welcome in New York, and anyone supporting genocide will be met with protests wherever they go."
