Qatar condemns Israel’s decision to expand West Bank colonies

DOHA, Saturday, June 29, 2024 (WAFA) – Qatar today condemned the Israeli occupation’s decision to expand colonies in the occupied West Bank, according to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The State of Qatar strongly condemns the Israeli occupation's decision to expand settlements in the West Bank, and considers it a new episode in a series of its continuous violations of international legitimacy resolutions, especially Security Council Resolution 2334,” the Ministry announced in a press statement.

The Ministry affirmed that “the occupation policy based on the expansion of settlements and the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, as well as its ongoing brutal war on the Gaza Strip, constitutes an obstacle to efforts aimed at preventing the expansion of violence in the region and achieving comprehensive and just peace.”

It stressed “the need for the international community to stand together to oblige the Israeli occupation to stop its unilateral actions and comply with the international legitimacy resolutions, especially at this critical time.”

It reiterated “Qatar's firm and permanent position in supporting the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the brotherly Palestinian people, based on the international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
