BRUSSELS, Saturday, June 22, 2024 (WAFA) – Belgium today slammed the loss of Palestinian civilians due to the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip as unacceptable.
“The loss of civilians and the ongoing violence in Gaza are unacceptable,” Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadja Lahbib posted on X in response to the deadly shelling that damaged an office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Gaza.
“We call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urge all parties to pave the way to peace,” she said.
She reposted EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell’s remarks calling for an independent investigation into a deadly shelling that hit the (ICRC) office in Gaza.
“The EU condemns the shelling, which damaged the ICRC office in Gaza and led to dozens of casualties," Borrell said on X.
“An independent investigation is needed and those responsible must be held accountable,” he added.
On Friday, Israeli military aircrafts conducted two strikes targeting the vicinity of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) office at the al-Mawasi camp, northwest of Rafah, which had been designated a "humanitarian zone" by the occupation forces, killing at least 25 people and injuring 50 others.
