NABLUS, Saturday, June 22, 2024 (WAFA) – A number of Palestinians Saturday evening suffocated during an Israeli army raid in the town of Beita, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to local sources.
They said that a sizable occupation force stormed the town, triggering confrontations.
The gun-toting soldiers fired volleys of tear gas canisters towards the town residents, including local youths protesting the raid, causing a number to suffocate from excessive tear gas inhalation.
Meanwhile, similar confrontations broke out when the occupation forces barged their way into the town of Ajjul, north of Ramallah.
The soldiers opened fire towards people in the town, but there were no casualties.
The sources confirmed a similar raid in Silwad town, east of Ramallah, where the heavily armed soldiers opened fire towards the houses of the residents. However, there were no casualties.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
