JERICHO, August 23, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces today raided the village of Al-Auja, north of Jericho, deploying heavily throughout its streets under the pretext of an alleged stabbing incident in the village.

Al-Auja village council head Hani Najoum said large numbers of Israeli soldiers stormed the village and closed its entrances, preventing residents from entering or leaving and forcing shop owners to shut their businesses.

Najoum added that Israeli forces raided several homes and seized surveillance camera recordings from shops and houses in the village, while Israeli helicopters hovered over the area.

The forces also set up a military checkpoint northwest of Jericho, stopping Palestinian vehicles and disrupting traffic in the area.
