TULKARM, August 23, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces today raised the Israeli flag over the minaret of Abu Ubaida Mosque in Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarm, amid the ongoing Israeli military assault on the camp.

The Tulkarm Directorate of Religious Affairs and Awqaf condemned the raising of the flag over the mosque, describing it as an attack on the sanctity of places of worship and a clear violation of their religious status.

The directorate said the incident comes as Israeli forces continue to raid Nur Shams camp and attack Palestinian property.

It added that the condition of nine mosques in Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps remains unknown due to the tight military siege and restrictions preventing access to them.
