UNRWA says over 50,000 children in Gaza suffering from acute malnutrition

GAZA, Saturday, June 15, 2024 (WAFA) — The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced today that more than 50,000 children in the Gaza Strip are in urgent need of treatment for acute malnutrition.

In a statement released on its X account, UNRWA stated that the people of Gaza are facing "desperate levels of hunger" as restrictions on aid persist. The agency emphasized that its teams are working tirelessly to deliver aid to families, but described the situation as "catastrophic."

The humanitarian conditions and the suffering of citizens in Gaza are worsening daily due to the continuous blockade by Israeli forces, which has halted the flow of humanitarian aid and medical supplies.

This blockade has also prevented thousands of patients and the injured from traveling abroad for necessary medical treatment.
