GENEVA, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (WAFA) – The United Nations today expressed its deep shock at the number of civilians killed in the recent Israeli onslaught on the Nuseirat refugee camp.
"All of these actions could amount to war crimes, Jeremy Lawrence, spokesman for the UN Human Rights Office, told the press in Geneva," adding that it was up to the courts to determine whether this was the case."
Lawrence added,"The manner in which the operation (liberating the hostages) was carried out in a similar densely populated area raises serious questions about the Israeli forces' respect for the principles of distinction, proportionality and caution, as stipulated in the laws of war."
Lawrence stated, "We are deeply shocked by the number of civilian deaths in the Israeli operation over the weekend in the Nuseirat camp to secure the release of four hostages."
