RAMALLAH, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (WAFA) – The BRICS nations today strongly condemned the Israeli attacks in the occupied Palestinian territories and declared their support for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.
BRICS expressed grave concern over the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the unprecedented Israeli escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip, which caused deaths and injuries and the destruction of civilian infrastructure.
The ministers called for the effective implementation of the relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions and Security Council Resolution No. 2720 regarding the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip in a safe and unhindered manner.
BRICS stressed the need to respect international humanitarian law and provide humanitarian assistance as stipulated in United Nations resolutions.
The BRICS further expressed grave concern over the escalation of Israeli assault on the city of Rafah.
"The ministers condemned the Israeli military operation in Rafah and its consequences, which directly affect the lives of civilians, and the forced displacement of Palestinians." BRICS renewed their rejection of any attempt to displace civilians or transfer them to another place.
