GAZA, Sunday, June 9, 2024 (WAFA) – Fifty children are suffering from malnutrition and starvation in northern Gaza amid the ongoing Israeli genocide, medical sources announced this morning.
"Around 50 children suffering from malnutrition have been counted in just one week, and the specter of famine looms over Gaza. We have seen signs of malnutrition in some children. We are trying to resume medical services at a minimum level amid fuel shortages and a catastrophic situation in the sector," medical sources at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza said.
According to the United Nations World Food Programme, nine out of 10 children in Gaza suffer from acute malnutrition.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza, particularly in the north, has been exacerbated by the closure of the Rafah and Karm Abu Salem border crossings, as residents have depleted their remaining food supplies amid a shortage of aid.
It is worth noting that more than 37 children have died during the ongoing Israeli aggression due to starvation in several hospitals in Gaza, especially in Kamal Adwan Hospital, where around 30 children have perished.
The healthcare system in Gaza remains a target of the Israeli attacks, while medical teams strive to resume their services and provide minimal healthcare to residents in the northern half of the enclave.
