Presidency: Recognitions of Palestinian State, UN resolutions illustrate Israel's isolation on the international stage

RAMALLAH, Friday, June 7, 2024 (WAFA) – The Presidency today stated that the wave of recognitions of the Palestinian State and UN resolutions illustrate Israel’s isolation on the international stage.

Presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that the UN Security Council (UNSC) is now required to pass a resolution ordering an immediate cessation of the Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of 36,731 Palestinians and injuring 83,530 others, as well as crimes of genocide against Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

He added that the world now recognizes the State of Palestine and the wave of such recognitions was continuing, at a time when Israel was suffering growing international isolation and so too was the US, which offers carte blanche military and financial aid to Israel.

It is now the time for putting an end to the ongoing Israeli aggression and implementing the UN resolutions, the last of which were the UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ decision to finally include Israel in the blacklist of countries and organizations harming children in conflict zones and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) rulings ordering an immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Commenting on the significance of Guterres’ decision, Abu Rudeineh said that Israel should have been included in this blacklist a long time ago as it has never ceased perpetrating massacres against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

In conclusion, Abu Rudeineh described Guterres’ decision as a step in the right direction to hold Israel accountable for it crimes and bring an end to such crimes pending the execution of the UN resolutions on the Palestinian question.
