Ireland officially recognizes the State of Palestine

DUBLIN, Tuesday, May 28, 2027 (WAFA) –The Republic of Ireland officially recognized the State of Palestine and urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to listen to the world and stop the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

This morning, Norway and Spain officially recognized the State of Palestine.

Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris said in a statement, "We would have liked to recognize the state of Palestine at the conclusion of a peace process, but we took this step alongside Spain and Norway to keep the miracle of peace alive."

The three European countries announced this step simultaneously last week, with their leaders saying they hoped other countries would join the initiative, stressing that it would enhance the prospects for peace.

With Spain, Norway and Ireland, the number of countries recognizing the State of Palestine rises to 147, out of 193 member states in the United Nations General Assembly.

This recognition embodies a victory for the efforts of the Palestinian leadership headed by President Mahmoud Abbas and for the Palestine Liberation Organization, and its vision and struggle and political program to find a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue.
