BRUSSELS, Monday, May 27, 2024 (WAFA) - Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, stressed that “it is absolutely necessary that Israel accepts that it cannot exist without the existence of a Palestinian State.”
During a meeting with the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Espen Barth Eide, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, in the Belgian capital, Brussels, the Saudi foreign minister said: “There is a real consensus that the only way we can ensure that we don't continue to perpetuate the cycle of violence is through a two-state solution,” reported the ministry’s official X account.
They also underscored the importance of addressing all illegal unilateral actions and violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Israel's control over the Rafah border crossing, as well as tackling the catastrophic humanitarian crisis, reported the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The meeting also highlighted the importance of international recognition of the State of Palestine and the adoption of a comprehensive approach that ensures an irreversible path toward implementing the two-state solution under international law and agreed-upon principles, said the agency.
“This includes adhering to United Nations Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, along with other relevant initiatives aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace that upholds the rights of the Palestinian people and ensures regional security,” reported SPA.
