GAZA, Friday, May 24, 2024 (WAFA) – Following an ICJ ruling that ordered Israel to halt its offensive on Rafah, Israeli warplanes Friday evening carried out a series of airstrikes on the southern Gaza Strip city.

Israeli fighter jets targeted houses and roads in Rafah's ash-Shabura refugee camp, resulting in a number of casualties.

Meanwhile, Israeli artillery targeted the vicinity of the Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital, Khirbet al-Adas and al-Jneina neighbourhood.

The artillery also pounded the eastern parts of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, resulting in a number of casualties.

This aerial and artillery bombardment came just after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) today ruled that Israel must immediately halt its military offensive in Rafah and open crossing to aid.

Tried before the International Court of Justice for genocide against Palestinians, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, killing at least 35,800 Palestinians and injuring over 80,200 others.

Moreover, at least 7,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
