WFP: Families in Gaza are once again on the move in search of shelter, food and water, but with fewer resources

ROME, Sunday, May 12, 204 (WAFA) -  The World Food Programme (WFP) said that families in the Gaza Strip are once again on the move, searching for shelter, food and water, but with fewer resources.

“Until a ceasefire is agreed, access to lifesaving aid MUST be maintained. A full-scale invasion of Rafah would be catastrophic,” said WFP on its X account.

On May 6th, the Israeli occupation ordered the evacuation of 100,000 Palestinians from the eastern neighborhoods of Rafah, in southern Gaza, ahead of a ground offensive.

On the following morning; May 7th, the Israeli military took control of the Rafah border crossing in Rafah, halting vital aid to the Strip.

According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have fled Rafah in recent days, with the southern Gaza city under threat of a full-scale Israeli ground invasion.

The number of people killed since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7th, 2023, has reached 35,034. Around 78,755 people have been wounded.

Thousands of victims are still trapped under the rubble, or scattered on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them.
