UN rights chief  calls Israel's imminent military offensive in Rafah as terrifying

GENEVA, Monday, February 12, 2024 (WAFA) – UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Turk, today described Israel's imminent large-scale military offensive in the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, as terrifying.

Turk said in a statement published by France-Presse Agency that "any potential large-scale military incursion into Rafah, where about 1.5 million civilians are gathered without having anywhere else to go, is terrifying."

He added the ground Israeli invasion into the city Rafah could lead to a very large number of civilian casualties, mostly are children and women.

Turk pointed out that carrying out such offensive in Rafah would mean the end of humanitarian aid that was entering Gaza, and would also threaten the occurrence of more crimes.
