DOHA, Saturday, November 18, 2023 (WAFA) – Qatar has strongly condemned the renewed Israeli airstrikes on the Al-Fakhura School in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. The attack resulted in the tragic murder and injuries of hundreds, mostly children and women.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the deadly Israeli attack as “a horrific massacre and a heinous crime against innocent civilians. Qatar considers this a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”
Qatar reiterated its call for an urgent international investigation, including the dispatch of independent UN investigators, to uncover the facts surrounding Israel’s continuous targeting of schools and hospitals.
The statement urged the international community to take swift action to hold Israel accountable and deter it from committing further crimes against civilians. Qatar emphasized the need to provide necessary protection for displaced individuals seeking refuge in UNRWA schools.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry warned that the international community's silence regarding war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people would exacerbate tensions, widen the circle of violence, and lead to further escalation and instability.
Qatar reaffirmed its steadfast position on the justice of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. This includes the establishment of an independent State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
