22 people killed in Maine, US, mass shooting

WASHINGTON, Thursday, October 26, 2023 (WAFA) - At least 22 people were killed, and others were injured by a gunman who opened fire in two different locations in the city of Lewiston, Maine, in the northern United States.

Lewiston City Council member Robert McCarthy told CNN that the authorities confirmed that 22 people were killed and many more were injured in the attack, which was carried out by a gunman who opened fire in a bowling alley, a restaurant and a bar, while police confirmed that the shooter remains at large.

Lewiston police said in a statement that the suspect in this attack is named Robert Card, 40, noting that he is 'armed and dangerous.'

The police attached their post witha photo of the suspect, which showed a white man armed with a semi-automatic rifle inside a bowling alley.

According to CNN, these shootings occurred in three different locations in the city; a bowling alley, a restaurant, and a Walmart supermarket distribution site.
