WASHINGTON, Saturday, September 17, 2022 (WAFA) – Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi called yesterday on Israel to stop all its unilateral measures that undermine the prospects of a potential two-state solution.
"There are unilateral [Israeli] measures that are undermining the viability of the two-state solution. Our position is clear: Israel should stop all unilateral measures that undermine the two-state solution in terms of settlements, confiscation of land or encroachment on Al Aqsa," Safadi was quoted as saying by Jordan’s Petra news agency at a press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The Jordanian Foreign Minister continued, "It is in the interest of all of us to be able to do that because we want to preserve the chances for peace. Nobody's doing anybody a favor by opting for peace, peace is right for all peoples of the region — Palestinians, Israelis, Jordanians and everybody else."
Safadi underscored "the importance of the U.S. role, both with regard to our joint work to revive the peace process and put it on the right track towards achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace on the basis of the two-state solution, the only solution that peoples can accept and adopt."
