RAMALLAH, Sunday, January 09, 2022 (WAFA) – The Palestinian prisoner’s Society (PPS) said in a statement today that the COVID-19 outbreak among Palestinian prisoners incarcerated in Israeli jails is on the rise.

The Israeli prison administration of Ramon prison shut down the prison completely after a number of suspected COVID-19 cases were reported among prison guards.

PPS said that at least six prisoners in the Israeli Ofer jail have caught the disease, in addition to 25 other cases that were confirmed in Negev prison.

PPS expressed grave concern over the fate of Palestinian prisoners in Ramon jail which was shut down by the Israeli prison service after suspected COVID-19 cases among guards.

The number of Covid-19 cases among Palestinian prisoners, which relevant institutions were able to document, reached 394 cases since April 2020, said PPS.
