Shtayyeh affirms leadership’s readiness for a real political path based on international law

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, August 17, 2021 (WAFA) – Prime Minister, Mohammed Shtayyeh, affirmed the Palestinian leadership's readiness for a real political path based on international law and UN resolutions, to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people to end the Israeli occupation and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

This came during a meeting in Ramallah with the Japanese Foreign Minister, Toshimitsu Motegi, where they discussed the latest political developments and the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Shtayyeh said that Israel's continuous occupation and destruction of the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state drag us into a state of apartheid, as described by a recent Human Rights Watch report, which accused the Israeli authorities of committing crimes of apartheid against Palestinians.

For his part, the Japanese minister affirmed his country’s position in support of the two-state solution and its continued financial support to Palestinians.
